- Brewers post just 4 hits, 3 of which came from Aguilar. Crew strikes out 11 times (2 each from Domingo Santana, Perez and Arcia)
- Milwaukee shutout for second straight game for first time since August of 2015
- Lester bounced back from an awful Opening Day start and looked like the ace he typically is
- Cubs rack up 13 hits and draw four walks
- Brewers' closer Corey Knebel leaves with apparent left leg injury (looked serious and would be big blow to team if he missed a lot of time)
Game two of the series is scheduled for a 7:10 p.m. start on Friday

Fifth inning:
Cubs - Suter walks two (one to open inning, second was intentional to get to Lester) but tosses a scoreless inning. Nine strikeouts.
Brewers - Lester tosses 1-2-3 inning. Cubs starter through five innings: two hits and one walk allowed, four strikeouts. Has 51 strikes in 71 pitches.

Third inning:
Cubs - Brent Suter retires Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo before a single from Willson Contreras and triple from Albert Almora Jr. helps the Cubs increase lead to 4-0. Addison Russell doubles to score Almora Jr. and its 5-0 Chicago heading to the bottom of the frame. Suter strikes out Lester to end inning. Brewers in big trouble.
Brewers - After Jett Bandy reaches base after being hit with no outs, Milwaukee can't take advantage. A second straight night that the Brewers have failed to take advantage of baserunners against an ace.
Note - Brewers with more errors than hits for a second straight night so far.

First inning:
Cubs - Kris Bryant nearly hits a two-run homer to left-center in the top of the first inning. Instead, it's a long flyout and Brent Suter gets out of the frame unscathed.
Brewers - After two quick outs, Ryan Braun walks, steals second without a pitch and then gets 'thrown' out attempting to steal third base. Pretty clear that Brewers will be aggressive on the bases against Jon Lester once they get runners on.
Takeaways:
- Dreadful night for Milwaukee and a breakout game from a Cubs' offense that had a slow start to the year
- Milwaukee starting pitching continues to struggle (Suter 5IP, 8 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), 3BB, 5K)
- Brewers post just 4 hits, 3 of which came from Aguilar. Crew strikes out 11 times (2 each from Domingo Santana, Perez and Arcia)
